Dr. Shana Dowdell, ND
Dr. Shana Dowdell attended the University of Windsor where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Science with Honours in Biology and minor in Psychology. She then attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto Ontario where she completed the 4 year program with additional training in adjunctive cancer care. She is a member of the Ontario Associated of Naturopathic Doctors as well as the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.
Dr. Dowdell’s passion for naturopathic medicine emerged from her own personal journey with cancer as a child. She was diagnosed with Leukemia at 13 years old, underwent chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries and a bone marrow transplant. She learned later in life the importance and impact that naturopathic collaborative care could have had on her experience. After a long battle with cancer and side effects her motivation has led to the focus of disease prevention and supportive care for patients with any debilitating disease.
“IT HAS TAKEN TIME TO GET HERE. IT WILL TAKE TIME TO HEAL. IT’S A JOURNEY. BE KIND TO YOURSELF.”
A Naturopathic Doctor’s main goal is to always treat the patient as a whole and find the root cause of disease. Shana is dedicated to helping her patients reach optimal health and happiness.
Dr. Dowdell’s special areas of interest are adrenal fatigue and stress, digestive complaints, autoimmune disease and pain management. She uses an array of methods to combat disease such as supplementation, mindfulness and lifestyle support as well as hands on therapy including acupuncture, cupping and hydrotherapy.
